Tis the season! The holiday season yes, but also the season for ice dams. Our recent snows combined with the current warmer temperatures mean gradually melting roof snow. Roof raking the edges of your roof can help minimize the risk of these forming, but usually there are longer-term solutions that might be needed.
Foremost Insurance has written a bit more about the topic below, but often the long-term solution to recurring ice dams is to explore better insulation and attic ventilation. A contractor can assist in looking at ways to help prevent heavy ice build-up on your roof, or keeping roof water from finding its way into your home.
